What the number does and doesn't say

A stock far below its high is not "cheap", and one at its high is not "expensive". The high is just one past price. A share that has halved has to double to get back, and some never do; a share at a new high has, by definition, never been higher. The distance describes the past year's path, not the company's value.

What this record can't tell you

This is a snapshot of one day and changes daily. It says nothing about where any stock goes next.

Read price is not value, or look at the distance on any stock page next to its 52-week range.
