Splits and bonus issues make a share price drop without anyone losing value, so they confuse a lot of first-time chart readers. How often do they happen? In 2025, NSE recorded 53 stock splits and 54 bonus issues. The busiest of the last 15 full years was 2024, with 129 in total.

What each one does

A split divides each share into several, and a bonus issue gives holders free extra shares; either way the price is cut by roughly the same factor and a holder's total value is unchanged on the day. That is why charts use adjusted prices. Every company and ratio for a given year is listed in the yearbooks: 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021 and earlier.

What this record can't tell you

These are counts of actions in NSE's corporate-action file, by ex-date. They don't say whether a company's value changed, and a count is not a trend to extend.

The current year is left out of the chart because it isn't complete yet.
