How it works

How do I find my average price after a bonus issue?
Multiply your shares by the bonus ratio's total: with a 1:1 bonus you hold 2 shares for each 1 held before. Your total cost does not change, so the cost per share is the old cost divided by 2. This calculator applies every later bonus and split for you.
What happens to my shares and price after a stock split?
Each share becomes more shares of a lower face value: a split from ₹10 to ₹2 turns 1 share into 5. The price per share falls to a fifth, and the total cost is the same.
Which bonus and split events count for my purchase?
Those whose ex-date is after your buy date. A share bought on or after an ex-date does not receive that bonus or split, because the price had already adjusted.
Does this work out my tax?
No. It shows per-share arithmetic only. The income tax rules for the cost and holding period of bonus shares differ from this simple average, so use a tax professional for tax.

Your purchases stay with you

The sums run in your browser. What you type is not sent to us and not stored; only the company symbol is requested, to read its bonus and split record. The share link holds your entries in the address, which is yours to keep or send.

Limits to keep in mind

  • Arithmetic on NSE records from 2005; an event missing from the record is missing here.
  • Fractions of a share are shown as they come out; in practice fractional entitlements are settled in cash.
  • Not a tax calculation: bonus shares are treated differently for tax.
  • Rights issues, mergers and demergers are not applied.
